BMS Bureau Engineer

📍 Location: Essex (Bureau-based with occasional site visits)
💰 Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + Excellent Benefits

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a BMS Bureau Engineer to join a well-established and growing building controls specialist based in Essex .

This role is primarily bureau-based, where you will remotely monitor and optimise building performance across a portfolio of sites using Trend BMS systems. You will play a key role in ensuring buildings operate efficiently, reliably, and sustainably.

Alongside your bureau responsibilities, you will also attend occasional site visits to support complex diagnostics, commissioning activities, and system verification.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Trend-experienced BMS engineer looking to move into a more analytical and optimisation-focused role, while continuing to develop their technical expertise within a supportive engineering environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse Trend BMS platforms (Trend 963, IQ Vision, IQ Engineering) across multiple client sites
• Identify alarms, faults, and performance issues through remote monitoring
• Carry out remote diagnostics, optimisation, and system adjustments to improve building performance
• Provide detailed system performance reports and engineering recommendations to clients
• Attend occasional site visits to support fault finding, system validation, and commissioning activities
• Work closely with site engineers, facilities teams, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues
• Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and improve operational efficiency
• Keep up to date with Trend software developments and industry best practices

 

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Experience working with Trend BMS systems (Trend 963, IQ Vision, IQ Engineering)
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills (both remote and on-site)
• Ability to analyse system data and identify optimisation opportunities
• Excellent communication and customer engagement skills
• Ability to manage multiple systems and priorities in a dynamic environment
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

• Trend engineering certification
• Knowledge of additional protocols or systems such as BACnet or Modbus
• Electrical or controls engineering qualifications (NVQ / City & Guilds / HNC or equivalent)
