Metering Technician – London – £47,000

A fantastic opportunity for a Metering Technician has presented itself with a BMS Controls Company that is passionate about energy, renewables and sustainability with a main focus on the net zero carbon agenda.

 

The Metering Technician Position

In this role, you will be an integral part of their metering function and wider Engineering department; surveying, installing and signing off energy meters for the purposes of monitoring, saving energy, recharging tenants. You will work closely with their clients on site, as well as their in-house support teams.

 

Main responsibilities

·         Attend sites to conduct general familiarisation of building(s), assets and metering systems.

·         Establish positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

·         Oversee and complete installation works with technical competency and to industry best practice; in line with recognised national standards.

·         Assist in the development and evolvement of our internal SOP’s including basic installation requirements, networking, data logger configuration, CT and meter installation and testing.

·         Complete detailed mechanical and electrical surveys to understand metering installation requirements, also assisting in building scope of works and pricing documentation.

·         Carry out sign off of works completed and act as an authorised person within the department.

·         Attend meetings and act as the trusted partner on behalf of the company with the client.

·         Generate and collaborate on H&S documentation prior to works commencing.

·         Always maintain full awareness of Health & Safety standards and protocols, before, during and after accessing client sites.

·         Review and sign on to RAMS on commencement of each engagement, ensuring acknowledgement by the client.

·         Review sites, in line with the issued RAMs, and log requirements for workplace risk assessment to mitigate any new risks.

·         Use discretion to terminate any job where Health & Safety standards are not adhered to, or risks are deemed too high.

·         Ensure Health & Safety certification is up to date.

·         Mentor new and less experienced team members.

·         Ensure all reports are completed and are sent to admin prior to leaving site.

·         Ensure time sheets, expenses and calendars are kept up to date in line with company policies.

·         Generate and deliver O&M documentation on a per project basis in both paper and electronic format.

·         Keep skills up to date with skills and developments in the role/expertise.

 

Key requirements

·         A recognised UK level 3 apprenticeship or JIB approved qualification

·         A recognised BS7671:2018 qualification

·         M-Bus and MODBUS knowledge would be an advantage

·         Current gold card CSCS/ECS card holder an advantage

·         H&S qualification IOSH, SSSTS or SMSTS would be an advantage.

·         NIC authorised person would be an advantage.
